ASSERT was established in partnership with the Cambodia Trust.
The Cambodia Trust is a UK NGO (non-governmental organisation) which has been working with and for disadvantaged disabled people since 1989.
ASSERT has strong links with the Cambodia Trust and its projects in Cambodia, which are providing training and support for ASSERT in a positive example of South-South co-operation.
The Cambodia Trust's UK team is providing project management and fundraising support.
By focusing on training Timorese nationals in the specialist skills needed to provide rehabilitation for disabled people, the Cambodia Trust's aim is that ASSERT will eventually be handed over to the East Timorese government.
